Stevens?
John Stevens was appoint chief engineer in 1905 because of his achievements at the great northern railway. Stevens had workers build a railroad across the Panamanian Isthmus. The railroad served as a conveyor belt for excavated spoil, which lead to great progress with the canal. Stevens also created the idea that the canal would consist of locks, dams and artificial lakes in the middle. Like Wallace Stevens resigned a year later because the job was to demanding. #TheGoodLife
