Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, All this information I don't understand you.

Here's a breakdown of how the Canal works.
Ships from the Atlantic Ocean pass throughout the Gatun locks. The locks lift vessels 85 ft to Gatun Lake. Ships then travel through the lake's channel for 23 miles and enter the Culebra Cut. Ships then go through the Pedro Miguel Locks, which lowers ships 30 ft into Miraflores Lake where ships travel through another channel. Ships travel to Miraflores locks, which lowers them back to sea level.

Goethals?

That awkward moment when you think of a revolutionary idea and another person gets credit for it.
George Washington Goethals was appointed as chief engineer in 1907. Under his leadership workers removed cubic yards of spoil from the Culebra Cut and finished Stevens brilliant plans. The Panama Canal was finished in 1914.

                                                             Culebra Cut

Stevens?

John Stevens was appoint chief engineer in 1905 because of his achievements at the great northern railway. Stevens had workers build a railroad across the Panamanian Isthmus. The railroad served as a conveyor belt for excavated spoil, which lead to great progress with the canal. Stevens also created the idea that the canal would consist of locks, dams and artificial lakes in the middle. Like Wallace Stevens resigned a year later because the job was to demanding. #TheGoodLife
School is demanding, but do we resign?
Wallace?

Deuces.

I wish I lived during this era, they had it a bit easier than us. People resigned for everything.
I don't like the outfit of the company... Im going to resign
Why is my lunch nasty? Im going to resign
Why haven't I made any progress? Im going to resign
 The good life huh?
John Findley Wallace was appointed chief engineer of the project by President Roosevelt. During his time he tried to excavate the spoil ( soil, dirt, etc) and begin to dig the canal; however, natural disasters set him back. Overall the project was not that successful during his leadership. Unhappy with the very little progress John Wallace resigned in June of 1905.
Taking over one city at a time...

What do we want? The Canal Zone
When do we want it ? Now!
How are we going to get it?  By being nice (:

Before the start of the project Columbia controlled Panama; however, they weren't that fond of the canal because it would eventually lead to relations with the U.S. So the U.S. supported the revolution of Panama from Columbia and in 1903 they gained independence. Panama agreed to sign a treaty with the U.S, which gave us the "Canal Zone"a 440 square mile area stretching across the isthmus. Ever notice how even when we don't try we still kinda look like bullies?

Trust issues?

So Drake has trust issues and apparently so did the French! The French were the first group of people appointed to the Panama Canal project. They had very little effective and innovative ways to work on the project, which eventually lead to the project becoming a disaster. The French also didn't trust the Panamanians at the time so all of this animosity lead to resignation of the French! Oops. Word of advice: Fix your trust issues before getting into business with others!

Ready, Set, Go - 1881

Let's face it ....  Who likes to waste time on long straneous missions? The world would be so much easier if there was a shortcut for everything. Slow and steady wins the race but time waits on no man!
The Panamanian government had this proverb in mind when they got the idea to build a canal. The canal would connect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, which would save travelers tremendous amounts of time. Instead of traveling around South America for days to reach destinations ships could sail through the canal in hours and reach their destination sooner.
